Come Into The Gardens

We were really excited to work with Bury Council to develop a community celebration to gather and share the past, present and future stories of the Old Town Hall Gardens in Whitefield. This is a space at the heart of the community which has not had the care that it needs over the last decade. The aim of the event was to reactivte the space and to build a community of shared interest that may be interested to be involved in stewarding the space going forward.

The event included contributions from a range of community partners including Art In Whitefield, Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Incredible Edible Prestwich and District, The National Trust, Wildsould Forest School and Six String Coffee.

As a result of this simple and gentle convening a group is now being established, and first works will begin in the gardens over the winter months. Alongside this there will be further co-design activities with the group and community to come up with a longer term plan for the space focused upon wellbeing, biodiversity and accessibility.
